What is The Empowered Kingdom? What do I need to know?

Jesus placed a great deal of emphasis on the Kingdom of Heaven.

  • Matthew 4:17 records that, "From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
  • In Mathew 10:7, Jesus instructs His disciples, "As you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
  • In Luke 17:21 Jesus said to His disciples, “The Kingdom of God is within you.”
  • Then, in Matthew 6:9-10, Jesus taught us to pray, "‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven."

If Jesus placed so much emphasis on the Kingdom of Heaven at hand, shouldn't we?

The KingdomIt's in the Word

The Bible is full of the Kingdom of God. It is like a multi-faceted diamond. What we see, is determined by the facet we look through. If we look through the lens of legalism, we become like the Scribes and Pharisees. If we look through the lens of love, we begin to see the Heart of God, and the wisdom of His Kingdom. If we look through the lens of Kingdom, we see God's wisdom, and power on earth.

"So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Jesus Christ
Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV)

"Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the Kingdom; you are exalted as head over all."

Old Testament Author
1 Chronicles 29:11 (NIV)

"Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Jesus Christ
Matthew 19:13-14 (NIV)

"But seek [first] His Kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Jesus Christ
Luke 12: 31-34 (NIV)

"From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven has come near.” As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They ... were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him."

Jesus Christ
Matthew 4:17-20 (NIV)

"Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless they are born again... no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

Jesus Christ
John 3:3-8 (NIV)

"When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you.’ ... Yet be sure of this: The Kingdom of God has come near.’ ... I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

Jesus Christ
Luke 10:8-17 (NIV)

"Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my ecclesia, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

Jesus Christ
Matthew 16: 16-19

"This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

Jesus Christ
Matthew 6: 9-10

Questions and Answers: The Empowered Kingdom

Are you a denomination? Who are you affiliated with?

We are affiliated with Jesus Christ alone. He said, "My Kingdom is not of this world," (John 18:36).

If Jesus did not create denominations, (which are endlessly divided), but prayed for His followers to be unified as one, then why would we create denominations? Jesus Kingdom produced remarkable results His way. His way worked, and it still does! It is what He commanded. Our mission is simply to follow His voice, and His example. Why would we want to do things any other way?

Is the church and the Kingdom the same thing?

The word "church" is actually not in the original Greek or Hebrew. It has been inserted in place of the word "ecclesia," which was the word Jesus used when He said to Peter, "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my ecclesia [which has been translated as "church"], and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." (Matthew 16:18).

The word "ecclesia" means a group of people who are called to assemble. It was used both of political assemblies, and as a reference to the gathering of Christians in groups. So, when Jesus was refering to His "ecclesia," He was not refering to a building, or a meeting place, or a ritual, but to the people He was gathering to Himself. He then told these people (His disciples, or His "ecclesia"), "As you go, proclaim this message: 'The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.'" (Matthew 10:7). So, the people He called (His ecclesia or assembly), were told to preach the Kingdom at hand. This is not quite the same as our definitions of church today. It is easy to go to church and live out a passive form of Christianity where nothing of the Kingdom really manifests in our day-to-day life. Our churches cater to this. Jesus' Kingdom called every person to be personally engaged, and fully active in His Kingdom. His ecclesia is passionate, highly motivated, and actively building Kingdom. By contrast, our churches have turned their attention away from Kingdom building to self-promotion, and the building of their buildings, ministries, stage shows, and so on. There is a difference.

Follow His instructions, which are clear and generally easy to understand. These can be found in the Gospels. Pray to the Lord for guidance. Ask for a pure and humble heart. Ask for wisdom to walk in His way. Listen to God and not to man. (Psalm 118:8). Be obedient to the Jesus, and His Word.

In Acts 2:37-39, when people asked Peter what they had to do to be saved, Peter's answer was, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Then in verse 47, we read; "And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus gives His disciples their marching orders with these words; "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In John 14:15 Jesus said, "If you love me you will keep my commandments."

It is that simple. It does not have to be complicated. Be genuine. Be authentic. Listen to God and not to man. Read the Gospels, and obey Jesus. It is all there.

Not formally, because we already have Jesus mandate in scripture and we simply need to follow Him. That being said, we are inviting churches back to the Kingdom Jesus established, His way.

Please do not send donations to the Empowered Kingdom. We do not solicit funds for teaching the Gospel. Nor do we ask for tithes and offerings. Our approach is to encourage each person to support each other, and also worthy causes, as God lays it on your heart. When it comes to small groups, we encourage the members of each group to identify a cause or community need, and then contribute directly to that cause or need. Jesus said, "Let your giving be in secret," and "do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing." Your giving is between you and God, and we do not need to know what you have chosen to give. That is your business. That being said, giving is an important part of your spiritual development, for "God loves a cheerful giver."

Probably. The Kingdom is all encompassing. This means that its principles apply to everything from teaching, to coaching, to parenting, to personal development, to business, to finance, to entrepreneurship, to education, and much more.
